Friday Focus – January 10, 2020

Happy New Year everybody!

Here is your weekly dose of Friday Focus, a smattering of what I’m reading, listening to, learning, watching or pondering.

What I’m reading: Peace and Good: Through the Year with St. Francis of Assisi by Pat McCloskey, OFM. I enjoy yearly journeys with various writers and, so far, I am really enjoying this one. This is for anyone who is looking to glimpse into Franciscan spirituality.

What I’m watching: Trio Documentary: Dolly Parton, Linda Rondstat, Emmylou Harris . Wow what a delight this was to watch. Their voices blend in a delightful way. The story of how they found each other, the music that they made together, and the respect they attribute to each other is wonderfully narrated. I’m also listening to their music on Amazon Prime Music “Trio”

Sacred Scripture I’m pondering: “For I know well the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare, not for woe! Plans to give you a future full of hope. “ Jeremiah 29:11

Practicing ridiculous generosity: Behaving generously is a pathway to a richer, fuller life. Behaving generously opens our hearts and minds to the larger picture of gratitude, joy and living a peace-filled life. In the next several installments of Friday Focus, I will be offering “the week’s ridiculous generosity challenge.” If you don’t like the one I propose, feel free to create your own.

The week’s ridiculous generosity challenge: Take a moment and share with a parent, caregiver or special “elder” in your life: “You have had a positive influence in my life. The biggest lesson that I learned from you is __________”

Join me on the fasting journey: Many of you know I am diving deep into the fasting lifestyle. Not just for weight loss; for emotional and spiritual benefit as well.
