Here is your weekly dose of Friday Focus, a smattering of what I’m reading, listening to, learning, watching or pondering.
What I’m reading – Not a Day but a Season: A Thanksgiving Reflection by Deacon Ray Duplechain. This short reflection on Thanksgiving opens up our thoughts to something bigger than a day we eat turkey. This season of gratitude can prepare us better for the days of Advent, preparing for the Christmas miracle.
What I’m watching – Deck the Hallmark podcast. The women in my house are Hallmark channel watchers. I’ve watched more of the movies than I care to admit, yet it allows me to be in the same space with those I love. My 19 year old introduced me to the podcast Deck the Hallmark. 3 guys: Bran, Panda, and Dan attempt to watch and review Hallmark movies. It’s hilarious and so much fun!!! If you want a diversion when the glut of Hallmark Christmas movies are on, watch this.
Practicing ridiculous generosity: Behaving generously is a pathway to a richer, fuller life. Behaving generously opens our hearts and minds to the larger picture of gratitude, joy and living a peace-filled life. In the next several installments of Friday Focus, I will be offering “the week’s ridiculous generosity challenge.” If you don’t like the one I propose, feel free to create your own.
Your challenge this week, should you choose to accept it: Tell a teenager: “You are so brilliant. I can’t wait to see who you become. And, I love who you are right now.”
Quote I’m pondering – “Cultivate the habit of being grateful for every good thing that comes to you and to give thanks continuously. And because all things have contributed to your advancement, you should include all things in your gratitude.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
Join me on the fasting journey: Many of you know I am diving deep into the fasting lifestyle. Not just for weight loss; for emotional and spiritual benefit as well. (See last week’s Friday Focus to learn more). I am using The Life Intermittent Fasting app which allows you to track your progress on any fasting schedule since you’re able to set the start and end time and goals for how long you want to fast for. Feel free to join me on this app. I have created a Circle to stay connected and support one another along the journey. The Circle that I have created is named: “Fasting For Wellness”
