Here is your weekly dose of Friday Focus, a list of what I’m enjoying, learning or pondering.
I hope you had an enjoyable Thanksgiving. There is so much to be grateful for!
What I’m reading –
My favorite season of the year begins in Advent (Sunday, December 3) through the entire Christmas season. This year, I will be journeying through these sacred days reading Goodness and Light: Readings for Advent and Christmas This in an anthology of inspired readings, both classical and contemporary by various authors. I’m sharing this with you now to give you time to get your copy should you choose. I can’t wait for Advent to get here.
What I’m listening to –
I guess this is sort of a cheat because it’s an audible book (though there is a paper edition). I most often listen to something educational or inspiring on my way to and from work. It’s what I call my NET (no extra time). Right now, I’m listening to The 4-Hour Workweek by Timothy Ferriss. Though I don’t plan to reduce my practice to 4 hours/week, this book is loaded with great strategies and helps to make life and business more efficient, effective and productive.
What I am experimenting with –
Grayscaling my iphone: I’m in week two of this experiment, and even this color-blind guy is struggling with the lack of color on my screen – I guess the experiment is working. It has been studied that this does dramatically reduce smart phone and social media use.
A place to surf on the web –
Being thankful and grateful does not begin and end at Thanksgiving. Faith and Research tell us of the abundant blessings and benefits of a grateful heart and lifestyle. You will find a network to grateful living at http://gratefulness.org. Brother David started this initiative and it has taken off all over the world. Let these last days of 2017 move you into a heart full of gratitude.
Quote I’m pondering –
“Gratitude develops faith. The surest path out of a slump is marked by the road sign “thank you, God”.
~ Max Lucado
And as always, please let me know your requests and suggestions on Twitter. Which focus point above is your favorite? What do you want more (or less) of? Let me know. Just send a tweet to @daniel_jurek and put #FridayFocus in there so I can find it.
Have a wonderful weekend!
