Here is your weekly dose of Friday Focus, a smattering of what I’m reading, practicing, listening to, watching or pondering.
What I’m reading – Practical Mental Health Strategies for Men During Isolation This article focuses on the mental health and wellness of men during this time of isolation. Written by Dan Doty (Evryman Movement)the article maps out a clear plan to help men deal with stressful times. The article also mentions George Faller, an excellent EFT Therapist and Trainer.
Another very good article I’m reading– The Research on Gratitude and Its Link with Love and Happiness, by Heather Craig, BPsySC. I believe that we need to ramp up our practice being assertive in taking care of our mental health. The research tells us that gratitude is a key factor in folks who are able to manage anxiety, stress, depression and trauma recovery.
What I’m watching and Listening to – I have enjoyed this “mini-concert” by Norah Jones entitled “Happy Birthday, Willie Nelson!” Norah’s impeccable style and artistic mastey breaks open the songs of Willie Nelson in such a delightful and refreshing way.
Spiritual Practice of the Week – Amy Grant walks us through a beautiful simple guided meditation – taking us from “this is what we live, to this is WHO we are”. It’s a beautiful practice and so poignant for these days of confusion and fear.
Sacred Scripture I’m pondering – “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us, and we have seen his glory: the glory of an only Son coming from the Father filled with enduring love.” John 1:14
Quote I’m pondering – “Outside of Christ, I am only a sinner, but in Christ, I am saved. Outside of Christ, I am empty; in Christ, I am full. Outside of Christ, I am weak; in Christ, I am strong. Outside of Christ, I cannot; in Christ, I am more than able. Outside of Christ, I have been defeated; in Christ, I am already victorious. How meaningful are the words, “in Christ.” ~ Watchman Nee – The Normal Chirstian Life
Peace and Blessings.
