Here is your weekly dose of Friday Focus, a smattering of what I’m reading, doing, listening to, watching or pondering.
What I’m reading – For my journey through the Easter season to Pentecost, I am reading “The Sayings of the Desert Fathers.” I chose this volume to teach me and challenge me along the struggle to find a more authentic faith, based on gospel integrity – truth in love. From the preface: “We have a great deal to learn from their integrity and their unrelenting courage, from their vision of God – so Holy, so great, possessed of such a love, that nothing less than one’s whole being could respond to it.”
What I’m watching – Johann Hari challenges us to think about addiction from a unique experience. Though I believe that addiction is much more complex and difficult to erase what we do know, his TED GlobalLondon, “Everything You Think You Know About Addiction is Wrong” definitely needs to be heard and integrated into a holistic approach to healing. It’s clear in our day’s culture, that no model is absolutely correct.

Quote I’m pondering –
“It is only with gratitude that life becomes rich.” ~ Dietrich Bonhoffer
BrainTap – A few of you have asked me to share the link to the BrainTap free trial again, so here it is: Click here. BrainTap Technology continues to really help me as I use it 2-3 times a day to retrain my brain. Subtle yet very noticeable changes continue to reveal themselves in a positive way. Many of my clients are finding good results with it as well.
Affordable Counseling at the Pax Renewal Center – We have two excellent graduate student interns who are working here at the PRC. We welcome Claire Haydel and Auriel Campbell. Our graduate student interns are able to offer excellent counseling service at a greatly reduced rate. If you know of someone who would benefit from their service, give us a call.
Listen in – On Thursday nights from 8-9 PM (cst) I host the program, ‘Brokenhearted’ on Radio Maria.us. You can stream it live if you can’t get it over the airwaves. You can also go to Radio Maria and listen to previously recorded broadcasts of the program.
