Friday Focus –March 15, 2019

Hello everybody!

Here is your weekly dose of Friday Focus, a smattering of what I’m reading, doing, listening to, watching or pondering.

Happy birthday to my first born – Rebecca Claire. You are a gift and a blessing!

What I’m reading – One of my clients is reading Taming Your Outer Child, by Susan Anderson. I started reading it and to my delight it was personally helpful in many areas of my own life. The author counsels readers on how to break cycles of self-sabotaging behavior in order to meet healthy goals, offering written and mental exercises designed to reprogram the brain in such areas as diet, relationships, and procrastination.

What I’m listening to – An EFT therapist and colleague of mine in Arizona sent this to me this week. I’ve listened to this 12 minute presentation 5, maybe 6 times now. I hear something deeper, something different each time I listen. As an attachment based therapist, the themes of David Whyte’s reflections are powerful: human vulnerability, love, caring… This 12 minute clip is worth every minute. Enjoy

Songs and Psalms from my past – As many of you know, I, like so many of you really like music. Through the middle teen, high school, college years and into my adulthood, music shaped my faith, expressed my struggles, celebrated my joys and accomplishments. So as the weeks and months roll on, I’ll share with you in Friday Focus, the music of my life. Some songs that inspire faith, but all of them inspired me in one way or another.

I remember listening to He Touched Me by the Gaither Vocal Band as a college Freshman at Illinois State University. My faith has always been personal first, communal second. The Lord indeed did touch me at a Happening Retreat in 1979 and it’s shaped the direction of my life ever since. “Something happened and now I know, He touched me and made me whole.” This is my favorite version.

Quote I’m pondering – “”If it isn’t a clear yes, then it’s a clear no.” ~ Greg McKeown
