Hello everybody and Happy Summer Solstice!
Here is your weekly dose of Friday Focus, a smattering of what I’m reading, listening to, learning, watching or pondering.
What I’m watching – Alaska: Land of the Midnight Sun. Alaska’s Longest Day in Time-lapse — The summer solstice (June 21) marks the first day of summer in the northern hemisphere. This is the Arctic’s longest day. In Fairbanks, Alaska the summer solstice has about 21 hours of daylight. The sky remains in twilight even when the sun dips briefly below the northern horizon.
What I’m practicing – I needed to make a change. I sit on my butt most of the day and it is taking a toll on my lower back, posture, core, etc. At the suggestion of a functional trainer, I purchased a Gaiam Stability Ball Chair. Not only do I get to practice good posture and engage my core, but I get to roll in and out of my clients personal space – which, I believe, makes me a more dynamic and engaging counselor.
What I’m watching and listening to – I found this the other day and have listened to it many times this week. I was and am a Harry Chapin fan. My dear high school friend Kevin Mulvenna and I used to sing this song. Watching Harry’s brother Tom, and Tim Bresse sing “Mr. Tanner” is wonderfully haunting and nostalgic.
Quote I’m pondering – “In the deep silence, wisdom begins to sing her unending, sunlit, inexpressible song: the private song she speaks to the solitary soul.” ~ Thomas Merton

BrainTap – A few of you have asked me to share the link to the BrainTap free trial again, so here it is: Click here. BrainTap Technology continues to really help me as I use it 2-3 times a day to retrain my brain. Subtle yet very noticeable changes continue to reveal themselves in a positive way. Many of my clients are finding good results with it as well. You don’t need the headset, earbuds will do. If you would like to try out the headset at our office, please give us a call and we can arrange a time for you to come in and try it (less than 30 minutes).
