Here is your weekly dose of Friday Focus, a list of what I’m enjoying, learning or pondering.
Please share with me what you are reading, learning, pondering and watching. I may just share with others in a future edition of Friday Focus. . Just send a tweet to @daniel_jurek and put #FridayFocus in there so I can find it.
What I’m reading –
A challenge from the story of Epiphany. One of my favorite spiritual writers is Fr. Ron Rohlheiser, OMI. I believe any genuine Christian spirituality has at its core, the language of letting go – the language of humility. Fr. Ron eloquently reflects on a common Christmas story and challenges us to think about how tightly we hold on to our self-image, self-importance and position.
What I’m watching to –
Dr. James Coan gave this wonderful talk at TEDxCharlottesville on why we hold hands. It’s a wonderful testimony to the power of touch and the need for deep connection in our lives. As a proponent of attachment theory, this talk gives a great illustration of the importance of connection in our lives.
What I am listening to –
I came across this video/music montage. Music for prayer and healing while the video is traveling through Glacier Bay, Alaska. It’s the music I’ve been listening to this week as I’ve been writing my reports and logging my client notes.
Quote I’m pondering –
“Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrows, it empties today of its strength.”
– Corrie Ten Boom
