Hello, everybody! It’s 2019!
Here is your weekly dose of Friday Focus, a smattering of what I’m reading, doing, listening to, watching or pondering.
What I’m reading – I’ve read all of Brene’ Brown’s work. I think she has so many valuable things to say about being you – being all in and getting up when you fall. For those of you not familiar with her work or don’t know where to begin, here’s Brene’s recommendation of “Which Books to Read First.” This would be a great reading plan for 2019!
What I’m listening to – The music of Lake Street Dive was introduced to me by my son over the Feast of Christmas. My favorite songs are their cover songs: “I want you back”; “Rich Girl”; “This Magic Moment”. We also found out they will be live in Lafayette, LA in January!
Perfect song for a New Year – “Burn the Ships” by For King and Country is a fantastic anthem for anyone who wants and/or needs to leave something behind in 2018 and embrace the new thing God has for them in 2019. Tony Robbins is the first person that I heard use the phrase, “Burn the Ships, take the Island!”. It is a mantra for me when I need to make a massive change in my life. This song is now added to my “toolbox of change”.
A good App – for those struggling to find a way to slow down, relax and focus, the app “Calm” is very good. You can try it for free and then if it’s something that helps you, there is a reasonable monthly subscription.
Quote I’m pondering – “It takes twenty years to build a reputation, and five minutes to ruin it. When you think about that, you’ll do things differently.” ~ Warren Buffet
