Here is your weekly dose of Friday Focus, a smattering of what I’m reading, doing, listening to, watching or pondering.
What I’m reading – Studying Thomas Merton this year is already proving to be a rewarding challenge. “Merton’s Palace of Nowhere” by James Finley is a wonderful, reflective, prayerful journey. You don’t so much read this book as pray with it. Wonderful.
There’s an app for that! – It’s been shown that if you write down three good things that happen to you every day, your happiness and positivity increase. Three Good Things, a happiness journal, enables you to do exactly that with a simple user-interface and gamification to encourage engagement.
Valentine Gift for Your Spouse – February 8 & 9. I will be hosting Hold Me Tight for Christian Couples Retreat. Candace and few others will be helping me present it. This can be a great Valentine present for any couple that wants to grow closer, communicate better and find greater intimacy in their relationship. Early bird deadline is today, so register now!
Quote I’m pondering – “I have decided to stick with love-hate is too great a burden to bear.” ~ Martin Luther King, JR.
Big News at the Pax Renewal Center – We have two incredible graduate student interns who began counseling this week at the PRC. We welcome Claire Haydel and Auriel Campbell. Our graduate student interns are able to offer excellent counseling service at a greatly reduced rate. If you know of someone who would benefit from their service, give us a call.
