Here is your weekly dose of Friday Focus, a list of what I’m enjoying, learning or pondering.
Please share with me what you are enjoying, reading, learning, pondering and watching. I may just share it with others in a future edition of Friday Focus. . Just send a tweet to @daniel_jurek and put #FridayFocus in there so I can find it.
What I’m reading –
A very good article on the way in which depression and anxiety are linked together. Very often if you experience one, the other is looming around the corner. Dr. Beth explains how they show up together.
What I’m finding to help me prepare for Lent –
Fr. Joseph Tetlow is one of my favorite Jesuit writers. His expertise, articulation, pastoral reflection and teaching on the Spiritual Exercises is masterful. As I look for guides to not only help those I assist in Spiritual Direction but also for myself I found From Ashes to Glory – this online guide will invite you to take the practice of daily reflection and find the graces and gifts of each day.
A spiritual exercise I’m practicing right now by asking myself this question-
“How can I even more enjoy and appreciate “This” as a gift right now?” [Explanation: “This” could be any problem, hardship, person, or otherwise that would historically cause me stress or distress.]
Quote I’m pondering –
“What seems like emptiness or barrenness in our lives may actually be a necessary dormancy prior to the birth of something new.” – Seasons of the Slavic Soul
And as always, please let me know your requests and suggestions on Twitter. Which focus point above is your favorite? What do you want more (or less) of? Let me know. Just send a tweet to @daniel_jurek and put #FridayFocus in there so I can find it.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Peace and all good
