Friday Focus – August 30, 2019

Hello everybody!

Here is your weekly dose of Friday Focus, a smattering of what I’m reading, listening to, learning, watching or pondering.

A book I’m recommending – As my life themes seem to go in circles and patterns, so too, I’ve noticed, my clients coming to see me with similar patterns and life themes. In the last two weeks or so, I have recommended this book about 7 or 8 times. Drop the Rock: Character Defects – Steps Six and Seven. by Bill P, Todd W., et al. I believe if we are honest with ourselves, ALL of us are on the road to recovery for one thing or another. This resource has been a strong catalyst for me to move forward in my own recovery and it has helped many of my clients.

An App I’m experimenting withCentering Prayer is an app that I came across from a blog I read the other day. There is such good, simple, practical, helpful and prayerful content in this app. You truly can begin or grow your contemplation practice with this app. I look forward to learning and growing with this form of prayer.

What I watched with delightJohn Denver – Country Boy. On Tuesday, my daughter came into the living room to let me know that a John Denver documentary would be on later in the evening. I have seen this one at least 3 other times and yet, seeing it again, took me back to a very good place in my memories. I play Denver’s music on guitar and I’ve lived some dreams through his songs. It was a delightful musical trip that enlivened my heart and made it a bit larger.

Quote, I’m pondering – “Your job is not to drag the world kicking and screaming into a new awareness. Your job is to simply do your work… Sacredly, Secretly, and Silently… and those with ‘eyes to see and ears to hear’, will respond.” ~ The Arcturians

More on Braintap – Last week I shared with you how Braintap has helped my sleep. Another thing that I have noticed, is that the “Worry-Free Me” series has brought me to a place of easier prayer, silence, and reflection. It quiets my mind and the effects last much of the day.

Braintap is a quick and easy way to relax, reboot and revitalize by simply optimizing your brain’s peak potential – anytime, anywhere. Backed by neuroscience and research, braintapping is proven to help people who experience high stress, difficulty sleeping, low energy and other lifestyle challenges.
