Here is your weekly dose of Friday Focus, a list of what I’m reading, listening to, watching or pondering.
What I’m reading – Always Discerning by Fr. Joseph Tetlow, S.J. Fr. Tetlow delves thoughtfully into the subject of discernment and shares how lay Christians can implement discernment into not only life’s big decisions but also into the everyday, more mundane choices we constantly find ourselves having to make.
What I’m listening to – Driving back from Houston on Sunday I listened to a beloved album that was part of my high school years. I Want To Live, by John Denver. I listened to this album many, many times over the years and learned how to play and sing every song.
What I’m enjoying – The Gorgeous Coloring Book for Grown-Ups. My daughter gave this to me as a gift. I have thoroughly enjoyed taking the time to just “be” in the moment while I’m coloring. This is very relaxing and therapeutic in its own way.
Quote I’m pondering –
“Who can save a child from a burning house without taking the risk of being hurt by the flames? Who can listen to a story of loneliness and despair without taking the risk of experiencing similar pains in his own heart and even losing his precious peace of mind? In short: Who can take away suffering without entering it?”
-Henri J.M. Nouwen, The Wounded Healer: Ministry in Contemporary Society
