Here is your weekly dose of Friday Focus, a smattering of what I’m reading, listening to, learning, watching or pondering.
What I’m reading – The Mirroring Gaze is a beautiful reflection on the intersection between attachment theory and spiritual growth and prayer. We are all called to enter into the Gaze with God and with others… dare I say, within our very selves. Healthy relationships and spirituality lead us beyond the human level of feeling … it’s the way see everything and everyone around us.
What I’m watching – Soothing the Threatened Brain. In this short Youtube video, Dr. Sue Johnson describes a landmark study, shows that we can now effectively help couples, not just understand their relationship a little better or fight a little less, but create the secure loving bonds that soothe our brain.
A series I will be watching – Hosted by Dr. Daniel Gilbert, This Emotional Life is a series that addresses issues organized around various human interaction and emotional struggles. After viewing this, you will get a deeper sense of what makes us tick as human beings.
What I’m listening to – A Tribute to Dan Fogelberg. Since my Freshman year of high school (1975), I have enjoyed Dan’s music. So much of it is timeless. I am looking forward to hearing artistic renderings of his classics. Some of the artists taking on this challenge are: Garth Brooks, The Eagles, Vince Gill and Amy Grant, Zac Brown, Jimmy Buffett, Joe Walsh and others.
Quote I’m pondering – A throwback quote from the 80’s that resurfaced for me this week.
“People often say that motivation doesn’t last. Well, neither does bathing – that’s why we recommend it daily.” Zig Ziglar
